Every since the personal computer burst onto the scene, people have naturally been searching for computer jobs at home. It just makes sense. If you spend a lot of time on the internet, why not use that time to make a living, or at least add some extra income to the family budget? You might think of the housewife, up to her arm pits with “ankle biters” (kids), trying to find a way to make some extra money while trapped in the house all day. But that’s not the case so much any more. A lot of people have left the 9-5 rat race in favor of simply working from home. So maybe the main household income is now generated right from their computer.

I’ve heard quite a few people say that online surveys are the best work at home computer jobs out there. But when I went and did it for about six months, I came away with no more than $20. Perhaps I signed up with the wrong survey sites, but I don’t think so. They all offered me the chance to make at least a couple hundred dollars a month doing these surveys. That didn’t happen, but maybe it’s just me.

Let’s use, for example, a fan site. Think of a popular musical group and start a fan site. Anyone searching for that group could stumble upon your fan site. You could offer limited access to your site for non-members, such as not allowing comments on message boards. This will entice them to become members by buying a subscription, giving you income. If you have enough hits from your website, you can advertise companies that sell CDs or concert tickets. For each click-through to your advertisers, you will receive income.

But not all computer jobs at home are exactly alike. I mean some people may really enjoy writing, and there are lots and lots of people out there who don’t and are willing to pay for those skills, instant job. While other people enjoy watching live online auctions to get a good deal, then they turn around and sell the item for a profit, instant job. The most important thing is to stick with something you like. If you can’t stand building websites, how long do you think you could last building websites for a living?

Really good paying, however the one difference with these jobs vs. all the other ones I’ve listed is that you must be certified. With the other jobs they really didn’t require any training at all. You simply need to have the desire to do something different and you were up and running. Not so with medical transcriptionist and coders. Because you are dealing with medical terminology, you have to be certified in knowing these things.

When it comes to the various work at home computer jobs out there, be smart about the one you choose to do at home. By make sure that you aren’t going to lose money when you should be making money, you can watch your income grow.
