The DX is the new addition to the kindle ebook reading family and is larger than the original kindle.

It is actually the same width as the first Kindle but it differes in that the DX screen is a full 9.7 “. Due to the increase in size the weight is also increased to just over 18 OZ.

It of course benefits from the same kindle Infrastructure and works right out the box wirelessly with no fees or contracts and a library of over 300,000 books, magazines, periodicals and newspapers which can be downloaded in 60 seconds or less.

You can now get 3 and a half thousand books stored on the DX, thats twice the number of the smaller kindle. The screen uses the same technology and it really does look like a printed page that adjusts itself as you are turning it round. This also works when direct sunlight is shone on the screen, when means it can be read anywhere.

The DX also has a few well thought out and valuable extras.

As you mover the device round in your hands it will also auto rotate from potrait to landscape. It means you can easily get to grips with a whole variety of different things from maps to tables, graphs, photos and full web pages.

There is also a full PDF reader integrated into the DX, which allows people to read their PDF / Adobe documents from the machine. Access to the 3G infrastructure also allows them to be downloaded anywhere.

The price will obviously be prohibitive for some, but it is still the current ‘must have gadget’.
