Amazon has put together yet another version of its e-book reader and is worth looking at if you want to buy Kindle DX, a smart little reader in a light weight package. This smart little book unfortunately comes with a smart little price.

The 10-inch screen on the Kindle DX makes for relaxing reading of PDf documents. Business reports and textbooks are are breeze to tackle as formatting is not a problem.

PDFs are great read with the Kindle DX. With a screen that you can use horizontally or vertically. Now don’t plan on using this device to surf the web, but let’s face it , this is a e-book reader not a place to do a Google search.

The Kindle DX does comes at a price. $490 is a high price to pay in this economy. But California’s Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to have science and math textbooks in digital form for the state’s secondary schools by this fall.

Twenty free math and science e-books will available to secondary teachers soon. Each school will decide the format. Possibilities range from actually printing the content out or a CD version. Called open source, this one change could save the State millions of dollars.

The hefty price issue. Should the price come down, the Kindle DX may cause a revolutionary change in education. But if you are waiting to buy Kindle DX for personal use, now is as good of time as any.
